As most tropical destinations can be described, Bora Bora has it’s rainy season and it’s dry season.
Starting in November and continuing through April is known as the wet season and/or the Polynesian Summer. This time period accounts for nearly 75% of the yearly rainfall in Bora Bora. The island can be quite humid this time of year and there is an overabundance of cloud cover that brings unpredictable, yet frequent rain storms. The temperature will not fluctuate that much between night and day and usually ranges between 80-86 degrees Fahrenheit. This season is known as the slow season or off season for tourists.
Though this may turn away many would be travelers, there are benefits to visiting Bora Bora during this time. There are more rooms available and it is easier to book certain tour and adventure packages and the pricing is normally a lot lower. The lower prices can help you take that dream trip you have always wanted too or allow you to take part in more of the activities the island offers. Even though it is called the wet season, there will still be plenty of sunshine.
Once May rolls around and all the way through October, we have the dry season also called the Polynesian Winter. This is the peak travel times for tourists. It is very rare for rain to fall this time of year, so you can most definitely expect your entire vacation to be filled with warm sunny days. The temperature during this season ranges between 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit and just like the Summer months, the difference between the night and day temperature is minimal.
These favorable weather conditions obviously result in a spike of tourists visiting the island with July being the most attractive. July is the month that provides the most celebrations and festivals in Bora Bora. Also, for the scuba divers, this time period provides the best underwater visibility as there is no rain or storms to stir up the waters.
All in all, just making it to Bora Bora will fullfill your exotic tropical island desires no matter what time of year you visit. Based on your desired expectations and planned activities, the above information should help you plan your vacation accordingly.
